HUD does not have a program for assisting otherwise sound mortgagors who face the loss of their homes due to economic stress or other reasons beyond their control ,other than encouraging mortgagees to forbear exercising their right to foreclose the loan through work-out arrangements until the period of adversity has passed, or accepting assignment of the insured mortgage.
